Celebrating a Milestone 2009 marked Mutual of Omaha's Centennial. To celebrate this milestone, the company wanted to give back to the communities and the people that contributed to its success over 100 years. The Mutual of Omaha Foundation played a role in realizing this through two special projects:
- Great Places to Play Tour
In an effort to give back to communities nationwide, Mutual of Omaha and the Mutual of Omaha Foundation teamed up with KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization that envisions a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. Together, the three organizations coordinated the "Great Places to Play Tour," which featured the construction of two playgrounds in Omaha, as well as playgrounds in Denver, Dallas, St. Louis, Tampa and Phoenix.
Prior to each build, children served by the recipient organizations drew their dream playgrounds at a "Design Day." Those dreams then became a reality as hundreds of volunteers from Mutual of Omaha and the surrounding communities came together to plan and build each playground.

- 100 Days of Caring
In honor of Mutual of Omaha's Centennial, hundreds of Mutual employees stepped out of the office to volunteer at non-profit organizations in the Omaha community through "100 Days of Caring." The volunteer projects included everything from construction and landscaping to sorting and organizing. The Mutual of Omaha Foundation provided funding for the volunteer projects, and Mutual of Omaha allotted four hours of company time for every Omaha-based employee to volunteer during a work day.
