Funding     DO I QUALIFY FOR FUNDING?

Families today face many critical issues that impede their ability to enjoy safe, healthy and productive lives. In order to help them overcome these obstacles, we will fund requests from nonprofits in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metropolitan area that address the following:

[] Behavioral Health
Behavioral health encompasses mental illness, but can also extend to substance abuse - a frequent symptom of mental illness. We will consider support of programs that directly assist individuals with behavioral health issues, including those that aim to prevent substance abuse.
[] Youth Violence
Youth violence includes any type of violence involving children, adolescents and young adults. We will provide funding consideration to organizations whose programs help to prevent and address the growing problem of youth violence.
[] Domestic Abuse
Our definition of domestic abuse includes any type of abuse or violence occurring within the home or family. We will consider support of programs and organizations that work to prevent domestic abuse and assist victims of domestic violence.
[] Childhood Obesity
Children in our culture face an increasing number of health challenges that begin with unhealthy lifestyles and lead to obesity. We will consider requests from organizations that provide programming specifically to prevent and address childhood obesity.
[] Early Childhood Education
Statistics show that early childhood education provides an important foundation that allows a child to succeed throughout their educational career. Our funding consideration will focus on programs that provide early childhood education to children from underserved populations.
[] Preparedness for Graduation
Many students today face challenges that prevent them from receiving a high school education. Consequently, we have seen alarming statistics revealing decreased graduation rates and increased drop-out rates. We will consider support of programs and organizations that directly provide services to at-risk youth with the goal of helping them stay in school and graduate.
[] Literacy/Language
In order to have a successful education and career, basic literacy and language skills are essential. Our funding will be directed to programs and organizations that help individuals suffering from illiteracy and language deficiencies.
[] Financial Literacy
For many families, the ability to succeed financially and to save for the future is hampered by large amounts of debt and and lack of basic personal finance knowledge. To help address these financial challenges, we will consider funding programs and organizations that educate families about fundamental financial matters like budgeting, saving, understanding credit and purchasing a home.
[] Food
Without a reliable source of food, it is impossible for families to survive. To help address the problem of hunger in our community, we will support programs and organizations that work to provide food for those in need.
[] Shelter
The homeless population continues to grow each year, often creating a situation of overcrowding in shelters. Funding consideration will be given to organizations with homeless prevention programs, emergency shelter or services within a shelter.

We are committed to empowering families to overcome obstacles and work toward positive change.
