Before families can address any challenges in their path, they must first be able to provide for their own fundamental needs: food and shelter. Sadly, not all families have access to these basic essentials.
The homeless population continues to grow each year – creating a situation of overcrowding in shelters. Recent statistics reveal that a large percentage of homeless children are sick more than average and are more likely to repeat their current grade in school.
That’s why the Mutual of Omaha Foundation has decided to focus on helping families provide for these basic needs. We have placed a special emphasis on programs and organizations that address the critical issues of hunger and homelessness. Once these needs are met, our hope is that families will be empowered to overcome other obstacles and achieve a higher quality of life.
