Basic Human Needs

Before families can address any challenges in their path, they must first be able to provide for their own fundamental needs: food and shelter. Sadly, not all families have access to these basic essentials.

That's why the Mutual of Omaha Foundation has decided to focus on helping families provide for these basic needs. Once these needs are met, our hope is that families will be empowered to overcome other obstacles and achieve a higher quality of life.

We will consider funding requests from programs and organizations that address the following critical issues:

Food
Without a reliable source of food, it is impossible for families to survive. To help address the problem of hunger in our community, we will support programs and organizations that work to provide food for those in need.

Shelter
The homeless population continues to grow each year, often creating a situation of overcrowding in shelters. And recent statistics reveal that a large percentage of homeless children are sick more than average, forcing them to miss school and frequently repeat grades. Funding will be provided to organizations that provide emergency shelter or services within a shelter.

We are committed to empowering families to overcome critical issues and work toward positive change in Omaha and the surrounding community.
