At the Mutual of Omaha Foundation, we envision a community where all people are able to provide for their basic human needs. A community where everyone is equipped with the tools they need for a successful education. And a community where every family feels safe and empowered to pursue a better way of life.
To realize that vision, we have identified several critical issues that negatively impact families in their quest for positive change – issues like substance abuse, illiteracy and homelessness. Not only do these issues produce obstacles for families to overcome – they often have a compounding effect, creating multiple challenges. In order to address these critical issues, we have grouped them into three categories:
| Community Wellness | Education | Basic Human Needs |
| Behavioral Health | Early Childhood | Food |
| Youth Violence | Preparedness for Graduation | Shelter |
| Domestic Abuse | Literacy/Language | |
| Childhood Obesity | Financial Literacy |
Our priority is to support programs and organizations in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro area that have a direct impact on families facing these critical issues. Our hope is that through this support, families will be connected to the resources they need to achieve and maintain a higher quality of life.
