In an effort to help families overcome obstacles and work toward positive change, the Mutual of Omaha Foundation has added youth violence and financial literacy to its list of critical issues that receive funding priority.
As a result, the Foundation will place an emphasis on providing grants to nonprofit organizations in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area that specifically address these issues. Priority will be given to programs that focus on youth violence through education outreach targeting at-risk youth, as well as programs that seek to improve financial literacy by educating families about basic money management skills.
"In addition to the critical issues the Foundation already focuses on, youth violence and financial literacy have surfaced as major issues that need to be addressed in our community," said Christine Johnson, president of the Mutual of Omaha Foundation. "Our hope is that through the Foundation’s funding, families will be better equipped with the resources they need to overcome these issues and achieve a higher quality of life."
