$5 Million for Cancer Center – Mutual of Omaha Foundation Announces Second Quarter Grants

The Mutual of Omaha Foundation has approved $5.42 million in grants to eight non-profit organizations, including a $5 million commitment to the University of Nebraska Foundation in support of The Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. This grant is the largest approved since the Mutual of Omaha Foundation, was established in 2005.

"I think you would be hard-pressed to find anyone whose life has not been touched by cancer in some way. Understanding that one in three of us could face a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime is daunting," said Christine Johnson, president, Mutual of Omaha Foundation. "We are pleased to provide this level of support to The Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. This center provides tremendous hope in the face of a cancer diagnosis and it is our honor to be counted among the many supporters that have made this project possible.

In addition to this grant, the Foundation also approved grants to the following organizations:

Impact One $25,000 General Operating Support
Literacy Center $25,000 General Operating Support
Madonna School $10,000 Life Skills Transition Program & Employment Services

Applications for Fourth Quarter Accepted Through July 15, 2013
